Google Classroom

General Information

At Highgate School, our years 4-6 classes use Google Classroom to share and submit learning tasks.

When students log-in they can see their upcoming assignments and can also submit their work through Google Classroom.  Teachers are then able to provide feedback and return the work to students through Google Classroom.  All the files are organised and stored on Google Drive.

Teachers set up the classroom and ensure all students can access Google Classroom by logging in to EDPASS PORTAL and selecting the Google Classroom APP.

To login:  Each student from Year4 to 6 have to login to their laptop using curriculum details (edpass and computer login and password are the same).                    

Name.First 5 characters of your lastname and Password 

Example: Tom.jacks is the username for Tom Jackson 

  1. Open Highgate School Intranet and click the link to EdPass Portal   
  2. Search for Highgate School, and then Continue 

If you’re having troubles, please click on  

  • Click on Trouble logging? 
  • Select a different site  
  • Search for Highgate School  

If your child forgets their password they need to e-mail  IT Office: dl.1063.ictadmin@schools.sa.edu.au

Download and edit a copy of work uploaded in google classroom

If it is a word document:

  • To edit a copy of the work teachers have supplied for you on Microsoft word, open the assignment file
  • Click the 3 dots in the right-hand corner and click “open in a new window”.
  • Once you have done this, it will open in a new window and give you an option to download a copy.
  • Download to your computer and edit from here.
  • When you are done, just upload and submit.

If it is a PDF:

  • To edit a copy of the work teachers have supplied for you as a PDF, open the assignment file.
  • Click the 3 dots in the right-hand corner and click “open in a new window”.
  • Once you have done this, it will open in a new window and give you an option to open in DocHub - PDF.
  • Some documents will need you to open in Adobe and choose the ‘Fill and Sign’ function, in order to type directly into them.
  • When you are done, just upload and submit.

If it is a google doc:

  • To edit a copy of the work teachers have supplied for you on google docs, open the assignment file.
  • Click the 3 dots in the right-hand corner and click “open in a new window”.
  • Once you have done this, it will open in a new window and give you an option to download a copy.
  • Once you have done this, it will open in a new window and give you an option to open in google docs.
  • Once you are done, just upload and submit.

How to upload your work to Google classroom:

Turn in an assignment

  1. Click the class Classwork  the assignment.
  2. Under Your work, click
    Add or create › select Google Drive , Link , or File .

    Select the attachment or enter the URL for a link and click Add.
  3. To attach another document:
    Under Your work, click Add or create  select Docs , Slides , Sheets , or Drawings .

    A new file attaches to your work and opens.
  4. (Optional) To remove an attachment, next to the attachment’s name, click Remove.
  5. (Optional) To add a private comment to your teacher, under Private comments, enter your comment and click Post.
  6. Click Turn In and confirm.
    The status of the assignment changes to Turned in.
